The Diode laser with three wavelengths has the ability to work together and simultaneously at three different depths to assure triple effectiveness in the removal of unwanted hair.
What it does:
- Permanent hair removal for all skin types (including tanned skin).
What to do before the procedure:
- Patients should shave a day or two before the procedure.
- No creams/waxing/plucking/epilation – The hair root is needed for the laser to work.
- If patients have waxed/plucked/epilated, they will have to wait 6 weeks before beginning laser hair removal treatment.
- No sunbathing/tanning prior to treatment (1-2 weeks).
- Patients should inform the skincare therapist if they are on any chronic medication.
- If patients are on a course of medication, they will have to wait 1 week after completion of medication, before beginning or commencing treatment.
What to expect during the procedure:
- A soothing aloe gel is applied to the area being treated.
- Patients will feel prickling, warmth, or both, and the icy laser head.
- The skin care therapist will start at the lowest setting according to the patients’ skin type and slowly increase the energy until the sensation is felt.
- The patients’ eyes will be blocked out for protection from the laser light.
- Sunscreen will be applied to the facial area and aloe gel to the bodily area after treatment is completed.
What to expect after treatment?
- No downtime is required.
- Skin will feel hot for 15-30 minutes after laser treatment and there may be redness and swelling for up to 24 hours.
- Hair will appear to regrow faster, this is not the case, it is the lasered hair follicles that are exfoliating.
- Hair regrowth density will be reduced but patchy hair growth may occur.
How many treatments will I need?
- The number of treatments required depends on the hair and skin type (anything between 4-12 sessions could be required).
